Loose recycled foam pieces that move and mould around your dog. Filled to a generous standard depth — but the real advantage is adjustability.

Customisable firmness — simply remove or add fill to suit your dog. Nesty diggers love a little less; older dogs often prefer a little more.

Brick foam

A single dense slab of recycled memory foam. Firmer and more structured — holds its shape completely for consistent orthopaedic support.

Fixed firmness — ideal for larger breeds, older dogs or those who prefer a solid, stable surface.

Common questions

Will it last? How long do these beds hold up?

The base is built to last years — upholstery-grade fabric, reinforced seams and an industrial zip that won't fail after a few washes. The memory foam holds its shape far longer than standard pet bed filling.

What if my dog chews it?

The covers are sold separately, so if a cover gets damaged it can be replaced without buying a new bed. The base is very robust but we'd recommend not leaving a dedicated chewer unsupervised.

Which mattress fill should I choose?

Memory foam crumb is our most popular — it adapts to your dog's shape and suits most dogs. Brick foam is denser and firmer, good for larger or heavier dogs who need structured support.

Can I use it outdoors?

The beds are designed for indoor use, but the fabric can handle the odd damp patch. For outdoor use or travel, our travel mats are the better choice.

Do covers from different collections fit the same base?

Yes — every cover fits any Axel base of the same size, regardless of collection. Buy one base, build a wardrobe of covers around it.
